November 22, 2018

The 2018 Save the Children Media Awards: Uncovering Child Hunger and Malnutrition in the Philippines, now on its fourth year, aims to recognize exceptional works of multimedia journalists from all over the country that showcase the alarming problem of hunger and malnutrition suffered by millions of Filipino children.

The annual Media Awards is an integral part of our overall campaign theme “Lahat Dapat” and we see journalists as partners in our advocacy to eradicate these conditions and promote better future for our children. Winners will be announced during the awards nights on 22 November 2018.

With the advancement of modern communication technology continuously making our world smaller, media materials have become more accessible and more important in developing Filipino awareness and knowledge on pertinent issues concerning the nation. Not only do the new technologies create innovative media platforms like social media for information dissemination, these platforms have themselves become battlegrounds for campaigns and advocacy.

Media, now more than ever, plays a vital role as a key weapon in the fight against hunger and malnutrition. Its ability to raise Filipino awareness on the situation and to mobilize the people to help eradicate this situation is and will be an invaluable and important contribution that must be promoted, rewarded, and sustained.

Save the Children Media Awards: Uncovering Child Hunger and Malnutrition in the Philippines

One of the key activities for Save the Children's Lahat Dapat campaign is a multi-media competition focused on the theme "Uncovering Child Hunger and Malnutrition in the Philippines". This is Save the Children's way of recognizing audio-visual and print materials dedicated to presenting child hunger and malnutrition in the Philippines as an alarming and urgent concern in the pursuit of inspiring everyone to participate in the advocacy to participate in the advocacy to eradicate these conditions.

Save the Children Media Awards aims to encourage and engage more media practitioners to continue raising the public's awareness regarding the reality of hunger and malnutrition's impact on Filipino children and their families, give everyone a better understanding of its implications, and keep it in the public radar to ensure that all concerned take on the necessary action to end this vicious cycle.
