Save the Children Philippines launches its workplace giving program called “Give to Save” which allows companies and employees to conveniently give back and support children in poor communities to learn, survive, and be protected in these challenging times.

“Give to Save” is a digital Workplace Giving fundraising campaign helping children from poor households, marginalized, and those living in hard to reach areas to get access to online, distance learning and health interventions against COVID-19 and other diseases.

“There are millions of children in the Philippines who miss out on school, lack adequate healthcare, and live in unsafe environments, and whose lives are devastated after emergencies,” said Atty. Alberto T. Muyot, Chief Executive Officer of Save the Children Philippines.

“COVID-19 is one such emergency as it threatens to reverse the health, education, and protection gains that we have achieved over the past decades for this generation of Filipino children,” added Muyot.

The workplace fundraising aims to reach out to companies and businesses to meaningfully support children with lasting impact and provides supporters an active role in directly contributing and influencing which programs of Save the Children Philippines will benefit from their total contributions on the following year.

For as little as PhP 300.00 monthly individual donation through Workplace Giving, companies and businesses can save children from hunger and malnutrition, save children with disabilities by providing them with access to quality inclusive and protective education, save children from disasters by helping them actively protect themselves during emergencies, and save children from abuse and violence by safeguarding their rights.

One of the beneficiaries of Save the Children Philippines’ Workplace Giving is the family of sisters Princess and Queenie of Navotas City. Their mother, Jennifer, a small-business owner, and their traffic enforcer father, are meager wage earners only.

However, thanks to the generosity of supporters of Workplace Giving, the sisters who were undernourished were able to access healthy food, learned proper childcare, good nutrition, and hygiene through Save the Children Philippines’ NURTURE (Nutrition Among Urban Poor Through Unified Response) Project.

“I’m happy because they’re eating a lot more now,” Jennifer said. “Even if our budget is tight, they can eat well,” added Jennifer who now has her own palitaw (sweet rice cake) business after obtaining a start-up capital through Save the Children.

“Give to Save” will also be supporting other projects of Save the Children Philippines such as Project ARAL (Access to Resources for Alternative Learning), Kabataang Aralin Sa Lahat Ibahagi (KASALI), and the Alert, Accountable and Resilient Communities (A2RC) which are geared to improving children’s lives through continued education, protection, risk reduction, and resilience.

“Children who are already living on the edge suffer the worst impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and we are all called to help so they will have a future,” said Muyot.
